"coffee" cake

for co-worker's bday i asked: what kind of cake would you like? he said: coffee cake.

ok, i can do that. but later i thought: did he mean cake to eat with coffee or coffee flavored cake?

i opted for the cake to eat with coffee.

i found a recipe for sour cream coffee cake on epicurious.com and tested it out. it asked for a bundt pan, but i don't have one so i made a 9"x9" cake with a layer of "topping" in the middle... like i used to make at harmony bakery back in the day. seems like so long ago when i was so happy working at 5am in the bakery.
