Hen's Birthday
For Cake Lady Hen's Birthday, we had to celebrate big time. We hosted a ladies' brunch with yummy baked sweets.
Recipe: Chocolate chip scones. Don't remember where it came from... it's logged in my memory.
Notes: They were a great hit. Best straight out of the oven (what isn't?). Light and soft, with melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chips, great for a sweet starter or closing.
Recipe: Berry crumble, with strawberries, blueberries, and figs. Modified Apple Crumble recipe from Cooking with Monkey.
Notes: We had leftover crumble mix from Thanksgiving, so why not put together an easy and showy warm dessert to finish off the brunch. I like this one even better than the original apple crumble. Hen had the wonderful idea of placing a couple of intact fruits on the top so guests would know what fruits were in the crumble.
